2013 Audi TT
2013 Audi TT
According to Egger, the third-generation TT will likely blend styling traits from both the first- and second-generation cars, mixing the pure, classic appearance of the original model with the more elegant appeal of the current model. Egger said that the more distinctive greenhouse of the original model could make a return of sorts, reviving some first TT’s uniquely classic charm.
Egger also hinted that the next TT could get a slightly more aggressive demeanor, possibly courtesy of a similar nose treatment to the Audi e-tron concept currently on display at the Detroit auto show. Still, the TT won’t change its overall identity, meaning that a 2+2 hatchback configuration will remain on most TT models and the focus will be on a mix of practicality, performance, comfort, and style.
But although the standard TT still won’t become as performance-focused as, say, the Porsche Cayman, sources tell us that the sportier RS model, deemed a success in Europe, is likely to remain in the lineup with the third-gen TT. Currently the harder-core TT RS is not sold in the U.S., but that too could change in the future. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed.
